What is Power to
Change?
The Power to Change
Campaign is an all Ireland, media campaign that uses testimonies about
people’s changed lives to increase awareness of Jesus Christ in the community.
In addition, the campaign effectively equips ordinary church members through
training workshops to become vibrant witnesses in their sphere of influence.
Who's Behind It?
Three businessmen
from N. Ireland went to Canada and heard about the success of Power to
Change there and were challenged to bring it back to N. Ireland.
The concept was taken
back to Northern Ireland and then shared with a group of businessmen in
the Republic of Ireland with a view to making Power to Change an all Ireland
initiative. Two committees were established with a varied group of business
people and Christian organisations to support Church, Parish or Prayer
Group leaders as they reach out to the community with the Good News of
God's love.

What Does It Involve?
An All-Ireland media
campaign running from 23rd September to 20th October 2002.
This media focused
campaign is designed to help the local Church, Parish and Prayer Group
fulfill its mission to evangelize by mobilising individual members to
share Jesus Christ. TV, Cinema and Billboard ads will invite people to
call for their free Power To Change Book/CD-ROM, which will be delivered
by trained members of a registered church, parish or prayer group Those
who want to quietly explore Power to Change can go to the websites: powertochange.ie
or powertochange.co.uk. Concerts and Public Events, using the Power to
Change brand label, will present the Good News in a friendly atmosphere.
History
In spring 1999, in
Vancouver, Canada, over 600 churches worked together in Power to Change,
bringing the message that there is power to change through a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ. Since then, more than half the churches
in seven of Canada's provinces have worked together on Power to Change.
Over 45,000 Canadians have been trained to share their faith. Trained
volunteers have visited approximately 270,000 homes with the Gospel message.
The Power to Change web site continues to be accessed monthly by 25,000
people seeking to find out more about the Good News.
Good News
We live in a world
where many are pessimistic about the future. The problems of crime, violence,
economic uncertainty and man suffering show little signs of going away.
Against this background, Jesus Christ offers real hope. He highlights
our basic need to find peace with God. He then makes such reconciliation
possible.

can't get away from it. I learned new things that I never knew before. I
told my friends at school about it and they really liked it too." -Vanessa
