I remember waking up and not wanting to get out of bed. I just couldn’t take it anymore. I really just didn’t want to live. My mother died when I was seven. She had just had my little sister. I missed my mum terribly and my dad couldn’t fill the void she had left. I was so tired of being sad all the time.
As a teenager I was extremely depressed, and when I was fourteen I began to experiment with drinking and hanging out with lads. All the time I was searching for something to null the pain and hurt and fill the emptiness in my life. I needed someone to love me. I was at the end of my rope.
Finally I desperately cried out to the Lord: “Lord I am willing to give you all the pain and hurt of my life. I need your love. Lead me to a church where there are young people who will understand and love me. A couple of weeks later a friend invited me to her church. The minute I went in the door I felt at home. Later I asked Jesus to come into my life and I committed myself to living for Him
I gradually overcame my depression through the help of a Christian counsellor in my church. I have truly become a new person in Christ. I’ve found a new self-confidence and an ability to hope again.
I am now studying for a degree in Sociology and History at University College Dublin. I would like to use my training and talents in working with young people. God has provided me with more than I could ever wish for and that’s just mind boggling when you are coming from a world that tells you you’re nothing, that you have no future. But God says the opposite. You do have a future and a hope.

"Thank you! What a clearly written message. I can't wait to pass it
