We must individually accept Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord; then we can know and experience God's love and plan for our life.

Letting God change you into the person he created you to be is the most significant decision you can ever make. It's not enough to just agree intellectually that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died on the cross for our sins. We need to make a personal commitment.

We make that commitment when we turn to God, say we're sorry for our past sin, trust him to come into our life and ask him to make us into the person he wants us to be. It's about faith. And it's an act of your will. If you're ready to take that step, a talk with God is all it takes.

Remember, God knows your heart so the words you say aren't nearly as important as the attitude of your heart. If you're unsure what to say to him, that's OK; here's a sample prayer you can follow:

"Heavenly Father, I am truly sorry that I have been going my own way. I confess with my mouth and believe in my heart that Jesus died and paid the price for my sins, was buried and was raised from the dead. I ask you to forgive all my sins. I accept that you are the only one who can give me the power to change and save me from an eternity apart from you. Take control of my life. Make me the person you want me to be. In Jesus' name, Amen."

Could you say this to God and mean it?
If you could, pray this prayer right now and Christ will come into your life as he promised.

When you accept what Jesus did, He gives you the right to become a child of God. Jesus has paid the price for your sin. When you confess your sin, God forgives you. As amazing as it sounds, Jesus promised that if you accept him you will live forever in a place God has prepared for you.

If you've prayed the prayer and invited Jesus into your life, you've taken a significant step in becoming a follower of Jesus.
